Negros Residences / Hostel

(Formerly Sweet City Captel)

Formerly known as Sweet City Captel, Negros Residences is a provincial government-managed hotel at Bacolod’s sweet spot is soon re-opening its doors. This time, with Ayala Mall, rising Food Terminal at the back, and new features in the surrounding areas.

Negros Residences is a strategically-located hotel/hostel because it is exactly beside Ayala Mall Capitol Central, walking distance to Lagoon, ARB Call Hub, Seda Hotel, DBP and one ride to key spots in the City of Smiles.

Many of my blog viewers were asking about its details before, so I decided to drop by this spot recently to get updates.

I believe the word Captel, not found in the dictionary, is a wordplay combination of Capitol and Hotel. I admire the business-savviness of  our provincial government. One highlight is by letting Ayala put up the Capitol Central mall in its current location now. When I was a child, I always passed by this area which was an informal settlement of our co-Bacolodnons. Other examples are Mambukal Resort and Panaad Stadium, both are managed by the same entity. You can see historically how these are somehow successful government-run establishments. Also the Negros CyberCentre.

The Location

Corner Gatuslao-North Capitol Road, Bacolod City. Beside Ayala North Capitol Mall.

Reception and Lounge

The moment you enter, you’ll be greeted by the reception which is facing sideways. (Wasn’t able to get a shot here). I talked to the receptionist and she said they’re still waiting for the business permit to come out, so maybe the opening will be early 2020.

I like how the reception space greets you as you enter. It’s big enough for busy movements during seasons.

There’s that big hardwood table where you have a quick chat with your colleague.

The comfy sofas that give you convenience and the natural light from Gatuslao Street adds color to your ambience.
